Classes are principally in English but your tutor also speaks fluent French.
The Villa has a full time guardian, Joelle Audry who is on site and a mine of information and helpfulness!
The painting holidays are suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to accomplished artists. Jilly offers a painting holiday as opposed to a painting course, the emphasis being that you decide the painting/holiday balance that suits you.

How is the week structured ?
Welcome dinner on the Saturday evening, settling in.
Morning briefing with coffee, followed by an individual chat to assist your aims, ideas and objectives. Group warm up exercise or a sketching outing, then in the afternoon it’s time to work on a painting from your sketches or from nature, either out and about, in the gardens, or from the upstairs art studios.
visits and excursions
Trips can be arranged during your stay, normally two per week, plus local visits. For Example: the Matisse Museum in Nice, The artist’s village of St Paul de Vence, the many Tropical gardens in the region the Chapelle la Rosaire, Vence, and of course to the sea and coastal towns.
materials
paints and other art materials can be found in Vence’s small art shop, but it is not open on Sunday or Monday.
Bring your own or canvas/boards from home or these can be ordered from your tutor in advance for the holiday (contact Jilly for prices and to order, well before your holiday)
What’s provided? paper, drawing boards, easles, rags and turpentine
free time
is built into the week’ schedule for when you are saturated with art!
Studio space
free for your use night and day if you just can’t get enough creativity!
Message from your tutor
If you paint something, anything, from your heart, you capture a moment that will remain forever, not just a scene or an object, but what you were feeling and thinking at that time. Everyone is creative, it’s just a question of unlocking that creativity and believing in yourself. Painting is immensely challenging but so absorbing and satisfying, the ultimate therapy with a bit of sunshine thrown in for good measure!
